The Story

Felline Primitivo di Manduria Sinfarosa Zinfandel is a still red from the Felline cellars, whose heart lies in Puglia, in the province of Taranto. It all dates back to 1967, when an American professor from California traveled to Bari, where he noticed that the wine he had ordered for dinner, a Primitivo, tasted extremely similar to a Californian wine he was used to, Zinfandel. From that moment on, the two grape varieties began to be analyzed, and it was discovered that Primitivo shares its DNA with Zinfandel. The area in which Felline, a historic Apulian company and a key player in the "Accademia dei Racemi" project, operates is renowned for its viticulture. Numerous awards for Taranto's wineries have led to significant investments in the area to maximize its potential and improve the quality of its wines. The evolution of this Primitivo di Manduria Sinfarosa Zinfandel wine from the vine (100% Primitivo) to the bottle stems from a particular soil called terra nera, a very deep alluvial soil characterized by the erosion of rocks and deposits of organic material that has degraded over time (specifically ancient forests). After fermentation, the wine, designated "Primitivo di Manduria DOP", is transferred for 6 months in French and American oak barrels, before completing its refinement in the bottle. Felline Primitivo di Manduria Sinfarosa Zinfandel, to sum up, is a wine with an international flavour and at the same time traditional Apulian flavour.
